You use your SHAVENT, you enjoy the shave, you change the blades for the first time - but what is that? Red-brown spots on the screws and possibly brown spots on the blades/spacers? That can't be rust, can it? Enough of the suspense: NO, this is NOT rust! Don't worry, nothing on your SHAVENT will rust! But then what is it? Very easily: The screw threads of the SHAVENT are made of brass and are not chrome-plated along the screw surface, so that they close reliably for a long time. Ex works, they therefore show the different brown tones that are very characteristic of brass. This is the same on day one and day 1,000 and does not change. So: no rust 👍 The brown or gray spots between the blades and the spacer there are usually deposits, both from the water and from your skin, and can be easily removed with a finger (nail). You may also know this from a soap dispenser or something similar that stands on the sink: although it is not made of metal, at some point you will discover a brownish edge under everything that regularly comes into contact with water. This is because the tap water in Germany has a very high level of purity, but is not completely free of residues from the pipes. In summer you may even see the spots a little more, since your skin is often a little tanned and their flakes accumulate there. You can reduce this by thoroughly removing the skin cells from the SHAVENT at the end of the shave with water that is as warm as possible and placing it on the base so that excess water can drain through the handle in peace. If the deposits bother you, you can simply remove them carefully with your finger (nail) every time you change the blade, like Romy here in the video. Just make sure you don't bend the spacers.
