Does your skin often feel like this after shaving?
This doesn't have to be the case!
How to avoid irritation and razor burn after shaving:
-
Prepare skin and hair for shaving
For a wet shave, it is important that your skin is wet and that you have a gentle shaving aid (gel or foam - preferably soap-free and pH-neutral like our SHAVE & SHOWER series) so that the razor can glide smoothly over your skin. Never simply apply shaving foam/gel to dry skin, as you will miss the effect!
Shorten long hair with scissors beforehand so that it doesn't get caught in the razor and get ripped out instead of shaved!
-
Use sharp blades
You often use the common interchangeable heads of drugstore razors for longer than is good for your skin - be it because you want to get the last out of the many euros you have paid for the interchangeable heads, or because you don't want to throw the plastic dispenser with the blades in the trash so quickly.
No matter why, you're not doing your skin any favors!
Dull blades no longer glide smoothly over the skin and through the hair. They often start to get “stuck” and a feeling of picking occurs. And that's actually exactly what happens: instead of gently shaving through the hair, the blade gets caught briefly and pulls on the hair. The result: irritated areas of skin, pimples and ingrown hairs when the hair snaps back into the skin after being pulled.

The angle makes the difference
Do you use a pivoting head razor like the SHAVENT ? Then you don't have to worry about anything else - the flexible head always positions the razor blades on the skin in exactly the right way for an optimal shave.
If you use a classic safety razor with a rigid head, you must always guide the blades at a 30 degree angle on the skin, otherwise injuries can quickly occur - especially when shaving your body!
Extra tip: Shave particularly sensitive areas in the direction of hair growth, not against the grain, this is even gentler, no matter which razor you use!
Your skin will soon love shaving and you won't have to worry about razor bumps anymore!
Extra tips
- Make sure you don't feel cold while shaving - goosebumps create unnecessary bumps
- If you're prone to severe blemishes (also known as pimples ;-) ), shave with little pressure so your razor can get around bumps more forgivingly.
- After shaving, dry the skin carefully without rubbing
- Only apply deodorant when the skin is completely dry
- Do not shave immediately before exercise; sweat is salty and promotes the formation of razor bumps
- Avoid tight-fitting clothing immediately after shaving
