Put an end to skin irritation after shaving

Do you easily get skin irritations from shaving? You have sensitive skin?

Then today we'll tell you how you can avoid skin irritation while shaving!

Does your skin often feel like this after shaving?

Skin burns after shaving

It doesn't have to be that way!

Burning, itching, and red pimples can occur after shaving if you unnecessarily stress your skin.
These skin irritations arise during shaving due to micro-injuries to the skin, into which bacteria can enter, causing small pimples that can even become inflamed in the worst case. These unwanted razor bumps most commonly appear on the neck, intimate areas, and bikini zone.
Usually, these skin irritations disappear on their own, but it would be best to prevent the pimples from forming in the first place.

How to avoid irritation and razor burn after shaving:

  1. Prepare skin & hair for shaving
For wet shaving, it is important that your skin is wet and you use a gentle shaving aid (gel or foam - preferably soap-free and pH-neutral like our SHAVE & SHOWER series) so that the Razor can glide smoothly over your skin. Never apply shaving foam/gel directly onto dry skin, as this defeats the purpose!

Trim long hairs with scissors beforehand so they don't get caught in the Razor and get pulled out instead of shaved!

  2. Use sharp blades

The common replacement heads of drugstore razors are often used longer than is good for the skin - either because you want to get the most out of the many euros you paid for the Blade Cartridges, or because you don't want to throw the plastic dispenser with the blades away so quickly.

Whatever the reason: You are not doing your skin any favors!

Dull blades no longer glide smoothly over the skin and through the hair. They often start to "catch," creating a pulling sensation. And that's exactly what happens: instead of gently shaving through the hair, the blade briefly catches and pulls on the hair. The result: irritated skin spots, pimples, and ingrown hairs when the hair snaps back into the skin after being pulled.

  3. The angle matters

Are you using a pivot head razor like the SHAVENT? Then you don't have to worry about anything else - the flexible head always positions the Blades perfectly on the skin for optimal shaving.

If you use a classic Safety razor with a fixed head, you must always hold the blades at a 30-degree angle to the skin, otherwise injuries can occur quickly - especially when shaving the body!

Extra tip: Shave particularly sensitive areas in the direction of hair growth, not against the grain; this is gentler regardless of which Razor you use!

This way your skin will soon love shaving and you won't have to worry about razor bumps anymore!

 Extra tips

      • Make sure you are not cold while shaving - goosebumps cause unnecessary unevenness
      • If you tend to strong skin blemishes (also known as pimples ;-) ), shave with light pressure so your Razor can better glide over unevenness.
      • After shaving, gently pat your skin dry without rubbing
      • Apply deodorant only when the skin is completely dry
      • Do not shave immediately before sports; sweat is salty and promotes razor bumps
      • Avoid tight clothing immediately after shaving
